Championship Village
The 2012 Championship Village at Abu Dhabi Golf Club was bigger and better than ever before. While fans were able to watch the golfing giants, including world number one Luke Donald, battle it out on the National Course on 26-29 January, the Championship Village which was expanded to 1,200 square meters held a fantastic range of attractions, prizes, games, competitions, live performances and family fun.
Fans were able to enjoy the popular HSBC Interactive Zone which offered a variety of sporting activities to reflect the diversity of HSBC’s sports sponsorship around the world. The HSBC Interactive Zone was open to everyone regardless of age, gender and sporting ability and there were some fantastic prizes on offer alongside lots of sought after giveaways. Participants had the opportunity to test their skills or learn some new ones, particularly the children who had their own golf zone to practice their swing and putting and for the non-golfers among them they spent some time in the creative zone. It was a must for all visitors as there really was something for everyone.
Abu Dhabi resident, Julie Elder, said: "We all the children down for the day. We loved the Championship Village because it's great for the kids, who loved playing on all the games on offer. The Championship is a great experience because you can get really close to the golfers, which you can't necessarily do in Europe. We enjoyed last year, but this year it was even better."
“The 2012 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship offered something for everyone, from top-class action on the course to world-class entertainment in the Championship Village,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Manager for ADTA. “For 2012, the Championship Village was bigger and better than ever, and we made sure that all members of the family were able to find something special to do. We believe we created an unmatched experience for everyone at the Championship.”
