| With the
audio stream - which will be broadcast on 105.4 FM frequency - beginning
approximately 15 minutes before the morning’s first tee-shot, and extending
to 30 minutes after the final putt of the day is sunk, spectators patrolling
the course or viewing from the galleries can tune in to keep up to speed
as the play unfolds.
“We’re making radios available for purchase which will not only provide
a fantastic souvenir from the second Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, but
will allow spectators to have up-to-date news from around the course,
exclusive access to players’ comments and professional analysis delivered
by a world-class production team of commentators and pundits,” said Greg
Sproule, Member, Championship Committee, Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.
“Spectators can follow the action as their favourite golfers negotiate
the improved course. And crucially, they can also have immediate and accurate
access on leader-board changes, and how the competition is fairing – Championship
Radio can only add to the spectator experience.”
The information-packed audio is streamed from a central studio-based production
team, as fellow contributors wander the fairways absorbing and relaying
the action back to the studio. Overnight, a recorded loop is aired, providing
highlights and reaction from the day’s play, as well as public announcements.
The top international broadcast team includes presenters, commentators
and former golf professionals such as, Robert Lee, John Hawksworth and
Steve Richardson.
“Championship Radio is just of the many initiatives we have introduced
this year to enhance the standing and prestige of the Championship,” continued
Sproule.
A total prize fund of US$2 million and the capital Golf Club’s unique
facilities make the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship one of the most attractive
